About Chris Smith
I had a Lambretta 150 Scooter when I was 16, which I used to go sailing. In my early 20s, I rode a 175cc Honda to get to work, but it was not until my mid-50s that I started to ride properly. I took the V-Twin course in Abbotsford, and rode a 1985 Yamaha Maxim-X for three years, joining the Coast Riders in 2003.
In 2005, I moved from the Maxim to a Honda ST1100A, a great bike (currently for sale). Started to do some camping and longer rides (Montana, Calgary, etc.) with Dianne on the back, and later, following on her V-Star.
In 2010, I bought my new, 2008 Yamaha Venture, which is a little different from the sport tourer, but comfortable and powerful... ideal for longer cruises.
The Coast Riders have helped me learn more about the wonderful world of motorcycling, and I have made many great friends in the Club.
As with any organization, the more you put in, the more you get out. I have served as Bulletin Editor, Vice President, President (2008-09), and Ride Calendar Coordinator.
