2011 Vancouver Toy Run

The 33rd Annual Vancouver Toy Run is being held on October 2nd this year, following the regular route from Coquitlam Centre to the PNE grounds to drop of the toys.

As you can see from these pictures, the event is very well attended. In a sea of motorcycles like this, it’s almost impossible to meet and ride with friends. We meet before the run at the Bread Garden in Coquitlam and ride over together. This lets us stay as a group on the ride.

Volunteers are needed to set up and take down barricades at intersections along the route. Riders can hop on their bikes and join in at the tail of the ride, giving them a chance to participate as well. We all meet at the PNE at the end.

Mileage for the Club’s “Buns of Steel” competition is recorded: closing mileage for 2011, starting mileage for 2012. Turn in your mileage even if it isn’t a large number, we’d like to see how far the club collectively rides in a year.

This year we lucked out with a beautiful sunny day and the ride raised over 4,000 toys and $23,000 in monetary donations with an estimated 5-7,000 people participating.
